The company story

For thirty years, AgroLog has built instruments that tell people something important about their grain. Lars built the foundation: products, customers and relationships in the grain industry. Over the last decade, Jeppe and the team have expanded what that company can do.

We developed software, connected equipment to the cloud, expanded our sensor range and learned how to build wireless products. We established a common AgroLog brand, digital routes to customers and subscription services. Some of that work took years before its value showed in the business. Together, it created the foundations for a much bigger opportunity.

We can move from measuring grain to understanding it.

A temperature reading tells you the condition at one point. A history of measurements begins to show how a store behaves. With the right context, we can ask more ambitious questions: what is changing, what is likely to happen next, and what would improve the outcome?

We have already taken a step across that boundary. We used temperature data to develop a feature that estimates grain level in a bin. Software gave the measurements another useful purpose. Experience from the field became a product that could return to the field.

Our ambition is to repeat that process: develop systems that recognise emerging risks, help people compare possible actions and bring a clearer operating picture to organisations responsible for many sites. The aim is technology that becomes more useful as we learn how grain behaves in real storage conditions.

Our growth strategy gives that ambition reach. We want to make grain monitoring accessible to more farmers through wireless products and capable distribution partners. We want to serve cooperatives and national grain organisations with the technology needed to manage many stores. We will also grow with silo producers and engineering companies, becoming a supplier they choose repeatedly and a technology partner they build into their facilities.

Moisture analysers have their own place in this future. They serve important decisions around harvest, drying, storage and trade. Their growth matters in its own right, and connected measurement can create a relationship with a customer before that customer adopts monitoring.

These parts of AgroLog strengthen each other. Established products and relationships give us experience, customers and the means to invest. New capabilities make those products and relationships more valuable. More relevant installations give us opportunities to learn, provided we deliberately build the context and evaluation that useful learning requires.

We are pursuing two forms of progress together: reaching more grain, and increasing what our technology can do for it. By 2031, we should be known for helping people understand how their grain is developing and make better decisions before problems become losses.

Of the two billion tonnes of grain harvested every year, 690 million tonnes are lost after harvest, and that's the part of the chain nobody is watching.

Storage plays a central role into the crops supply chain. Among many different factors that affect losses, moisture content and temperature are the most critical ones.

AgroLog worked in partnership with us to develop our bespoke AgroLog silo temperature monitoring system which suits the high level of grain monitoring we require to protect our malting barley stock throughout its storage period.

The Agrolog system data is displayed in easy-to-understand user-friendly interfaces, and data can be easily interrogated. Information is available immediately on the system and can be viewed on PC, tablet or mobile devices. This saves a lot of time in comparison to our previous analogue system and also inputting data on spreadsheets!

From system design and throughout installation the technical team were available using remote access to support us with any issue and guide our own technical staff to where a problem might be. Aftersales support continues to be excellent – geography has not been a barrier. The cloud-based system allows the AgroLog technical team to detect any issues and resolve them for us very quickly.”
